ABSTRACT

Objective:To establish a research platform for obtaining accurate phenotypic spectrum data is a technical difficulty that needs to be resolved in the research of traditional Chinese medicine resources. For example, the traditional phenotypic characterization method of Armillaria rhizomorph is mostly in a form of descriptive text, which is subjective and empirical. There is an urgent need for an objective and accurate method to characterize the phenotype of honey fungus rhizomorph. Method:Based on the image processing software Image J and the root identification plug-in SmartRoot combined with the Synbiosis ProtoCol 3 image analyzer, the growth picture of Armillaria spp. was analyzed, and the length, growth rate, branching situation, and angle of nascent rhizomorph of Armillaria gallica were measured to establish a measurement system for the phenotypic analysis of Armillaria rhizomorph. Result:Based on the method developed in this paper, the growth length, growth rate, number of branches, angle of nascent rhizomorph, and other phenotypic changes can be analyzed in a real-time manner without affecting the growth of Armillaria gallica. Armillaria spp. grew fastest at 9-12 days after generation, and the angle between the nascent rhizomorph and the parent rhizomorph was nearly vertical. This method had a certain correlation with the dry weight of traditional Armillaria biomass phenotypic parameters, with a high value in practical application. Conclusion:This study has established an objective, accurate, fast and real-time phenotypic analysis and measurement system for Armillaria rhizomorph, which expands the scope of application of SmartRoot and can be used for phenotypic analysis of traditional Chinese medicine resources under controlled experimental conditions.

ABSTRACT

AIM To determine the quality constant of Chinese medicine and to establish a method of grades evaluation of Cortex Moutan decoction pieces.METHODS Cortex Moutan decoction pieces' morphological indexes should be observed and measured, the contents of phenol and paeoniflorin were measured by HPLC.Cortex Moutan decoction pieces was graded according to the quality constant of Chinese medicine which was calculated.RESULTS Cortex Moutan decoction pieces could be divided into three grades by the quality constant of Chinese medicine, the cutoff point of the firsts was greater than or equal to 1.56;the second was greater than or equal to 1.12 but less than 1.56;while the third was less than 1.12.CONCLUSION This method combines the apparent parameters of Cortex Moutan decoction pieces with its intrinsic quality, which can devide grades of it objectively and provides a reference for its classification.

ABSTRACT

To understand the distribution and accumulation rules of polydatin, resveratrol, anthraglycoside B, emodin and physicion in different tissue structure of rhizome and root of Polygonum cospidatum, the content of 5 active compounds were analyzed simultaneously by HPLC, based on plant anatomy and histochemistry. The rhizome and root consist of different tissues, with an increased diameter, the proportions of the secondary xylem and phloem have increased. Resveratrol and polydatin mainly distributed in the pith, the secondary phloem and periderm of rhizome, and the secondary phloem and periderm of the root, while emodin and anthraglycoside B concentrated in the secondary structure and pith of rhizome mostly. In different thickness of the measured samples, the total contents of 5 compounds were correspondingly higher in thinner rhizome and root than those in the coarse ones.

ABSTRACT

The wild resources of Dendrobium officinale in Anhui province were studied by textural research, data collection, interview survey and regional survey, in order to investigate the resources distribution and ecological characters and provide the reference for Anhui Dendrobium industry. In this paper, a part of producing areas of wild D. officinale in Anhui province was selected to analyze the ecological characters. As a result, we find that the wild resources of D. officinale in Anhui distributed only sporadic and the conditions of growth environment were harsh. Our findings may provide some suggestions on wild resources protection and artificial cultivation in suitable environments because the wild resources of D. officinale in Anhui are decreasing rapidly and facing an endangered situation.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo study the dynamic accumulation regulation of dry substance and four coumarin constituents in root of Peucedanum praeruptorum, so to provide the basis for optimal harvest time.

METHODRoots of P. praeruptorum were collected periodically. The dry weight of the roots was measured and the content of four coumarins was determined by HPLC method.

RESULTThe dry substance accumulation of the root reached the maximum amount and the coumarin contents maintain stability at the end of the vegetative growth period. The coumarins of roots decline significantly in the reproductive growth period.

CONCLUSIONThe most optimum collecting time of root of P. praeruptorum cultivated in Ningguo county in Anhui province should be from December to next February.

ABSTRACT

To explore the absorption mechanism of paeonol-beta-CD from various intestinal segments and offer biopharmaceutics data for paeonol new dosage form. The absorption kinetics and permeability rate consatants were investigated by the in situ perfusing method in rats. The absorption of the drug conforms to the firt-order kinetics and passive transport mechanism . The results indicate that paeonol-beta-CD absorption mechanism wasn't change.
